FAR Vision offers a means for the visually impaired and those with specific environmental awareness needs to gain an auditory understanding of their surroundings and physical environment.

Utilizing FAR Vision facilitates navigation to FAR Accessible partner locations with greater precision than standard GPS, including indoor environments where traditional signals often falter.

Upon reaching a FAR Accessible location, FAR Vision assists users in orienting themselves by describing the positions of points of interest, thereby aiding in the development of a mental map that supports navigation with or without technological assistance. The app provides detailed descriptions such as menu options, elevator locations, potential hazards, audio signage, and other location-specific information that has been configured accordingly.

The application also supports locating public transportation stops, offering route schedules and real-time arrival updates where available on supported devices.

FAR Vision is designed to complement existing mobility skills, fostering independence and enhancing the experience of navigating both familiar and new environments without fostering reliance solely on technology.

The latest version includes support for personal beacons. Users can purchase a beacon through our website (http://www.foresightar.com) to carry with them during outings or travel. These beacons can serve various purposes — attaching to hotel room doors, leaving on dining tables, or placing in any location where assistance in returning is desired.

This application was developed by a team including our visually impaired co-founder, who brings 16 years of experience working with diverse visual impairments at the Emory Eye Center at Emory University, serving as a Physician Assistant.
